Tim and Tom Coronel will no longer start in the eighth stage of the Dakar Rally. Tim has too much trouble with his back, the brothers don’t think it’s responsible to drive. “Health comes first,” says Tom from the bivouac in Al Dawadimi.
Tim Coronel injured his back on Friday in the sixth stage. Intensive physiotherapy on the rest day seemed to help and yesterday the brothers started the seventh stage. That worked, but it wasn’t easy. This morning it turned out Tim’s back was worse. “He can barely walk,” says Tom. “He’s done the Dakar fifteen times now, I’ve done ten times. There will be another one next year.”
